Quit following me.

As most of you probably know the Northeast part of the country has been hit with snow storm after snow storm. Here in Missouri we have had our share as well. I got in last Saturday and was home for Superbowl Sunday. We had plans for a gathering with friends in Joplin. Shortly after the game I noticed a snow storm heading right in our direction so we took off. We managed to stay ahead of it but soon it would consume Springfield.

Monday AM I get a call from Dispatch. I had a Macon, GA load. I was relieved due to the fact that I wasn't going Northeast yet. A fellow driver told me she was leaving for her run early because the the entire NE was gonna be hit hard. I headed out. I had to deal with my own storm once I got to the eastern part of Missouri. I had to shut down in Charleston, MO which was gonna make the run tight. But I knew that once I got into KY I would drive out of that storm. I had to be in Macon by 4pm and got there at 3:57. Whew.

Now I was nervous about getting a northeast run but my fears were soon taken away as I was going to pick up in Mcintrye, GA and it was going to Dallas, TX Woo Hoo! So I drive the 40 miles and arrive at the shipper. This became an adventure because of an under qualified forklift operator but that will be another blog. the instructions on the load assignment stated that I was to either keep moving or idle the truck if parked and the temperature was below freezing to prevent product from freezing. I called my dispatcher to confirm these instructions. They were right but his words were "I don't think that freezing temps will be an issue on I20 going to Dallas." The next day I get as far as Monroe, LA when I turned on the news I saw the words "WINTER STORM WARNING". Hmmm.

The next morning I got to dallas just in time for rush hour and this:

Turns out Dallas was gonna get close to a foot of snow. Looks like it was time to get the heck out of dodge. I got my next assignment and headed North to Madill, OK. Where a mass muddy/snowy/long mess awaited me. I shut down at a truckstop on US69 and then the next day headed to the yard. Today I am off to Mechanicsburg, PA where I hope things have cleared up because no matter where I go I am gonna get snow.

Okay, so the fragile nerves thing was a bit much..But knowing you dont like DRAMA..I was just picking !!

You do realize 49 states were experiencing winter at the exact same moment, so why do you think you should have been lucky to escape it??

As for the secret admirer..You might have one, but he would be the wrong gender, sorry about that!!
