Field trips
Ok now back to business. Had two feild trips this week. Field trips are great. I get paid to babysit a big bus while children are out learning about life. Tuesday I took a group of high school students to the Bass Pro Shops headquarters. After dropping off the class I looked to find a parking spot. So I went to security and I realized that Bass Pro is tighter than Fort Knox. Employees stand on this thing and get searched for merchandise. The guard gave me the third degree and then basically told me find a spot around the north end of the lot and sit there. And if I wanted to eat at their cafeteria I had to have my people clear it with there people. I sat at the north lot for five minutes then drove to the Wafflehouse with truck parking until the kids needed me back. I used to love WH but like everything else the quality has gone down (if you can believe that) and their prices have gone up. Maybe it's because I eat healthier now and avoid restaurants, either way my meal was lousy. So I went to the bus and sat for awhile. Felt like a trucker for a minute and then realized that almost all the trucks around me were idling. So much for fresh air. I did some organizing of papers, slept and then high tailed it back to bass pro. Wednesday was supposed to be better. I took an elementary class to the Gray-Cambell homestead at Nathaniel-Greene Park. This field trip is usually one of my faves. Basically I arrive at the park with the class and then stay there with the bus all day. The homestead is a historical piece of land where some volunteers teach kids how life was like in the 1800's. The park is peaceful and my wife usually meets me for lunch. When the weather is perfect it's a very relaxing time. Unfortunately yesterday when I arrived I could feel my allergies kicking in. You could see the ragweed just floating around. Sneezing fits occurred and then it got hot. So much for relaxing. Ann and Rowan did meet me for lunch so that made the day better. I can't wait for the first frost and the leaves to start turning color. Fall is approaching.
